Orientation: Week Deux

With the second, and final, week of orientations over for my cohort program, I can safely, but also wearily, say that I am ready to face the first case next week.

During this week’s orientation, we learnt and tried out some classroom discussion practices (e.g. Think, Pair, Share) and did some fun and interesting lessons on particular subjects, which allowed as to get to know one  another better at the same time. For example, there was the name lesson, which had us think what our names meant and where it came from. We later shared it with our group and came up with several themes that emerged from our stories. I found this very intriguing and would love to do it in the future with my own students.

Orientation: Week Une

With the first week of orientation over and having experienced and learnt so many new things already, I am excited for what the future may bring.

We learnt about each other through a circle activity that was much like show and tell, we had a sensory walk through campus, we shared pivotal moments in our lives that shaped who we are today, we brought food and ate them together, and, most importantly, we connected in sharing the same goal and ambition. And best of all, this is only week one! I cannot wait to get to know each and every one in the program a lot better through the year, and be able to grow alongside everyone as we continue our journey together.
