{"id":15,"date":"2016-08-16T18:32:28","date_gmt":"2016-08-17T01:32:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/msseto\/?page_id=15"},"modified":"2020-09-09T11:12:36","modified_gmt":"2020-09-09T18:12:36","slug":"physical-education","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/msseto\/physical-education\/","title":{"rendered":"Physical Education"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Welcome to PE!<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The <strong>Physical Education (8, 9, or 10) <\/strong>program is designed to provide students with the opportunity and tools to acquire the skills, knowledge, and attitudes needed to attain a healthy<br \/>\nlifestyle and develop their\u00a0potential; physically, intellectually, emotionally and socially.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the course, students will engage in a variety of learning activities including team and individual skill development, personal fitness goals\/endeavors, and participation in individual and team sports\/games. \u00a0Lessons are designed to promote health and wellness, fitness, develop fundamental and sport specific movement concepts, improve knowledge of motor skills, encourage active participation and leadership, and foster an environment of positive self-esteem.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-234\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/msseto\/files\/2016\/08\/cropped-PE1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"930\" height=\"196\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/msseto\/files\/2016\/08\/cropped-PE1.jpg 940w, https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/msseto\/files\/2016\/08\/cropped-PE1-300x63.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/msseto\/files\/2016\/08\/cropped-PE1-768x162.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/msseto\/files\/2016\/08\/cropped-PE1-800x169.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 930px) 100vw, 930px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To benefit from and be successful in Physical Education, students must actively engage and participate in the learning process and work to develop an inclusive appreciation and active interest in health, wellness, fitness, and physical activity.
