About Scott

Professional Background/Employment

I’ an UBC graduate that is teaching at Mission Secondary School as the Information Technology Teacher; I teach Desktop Publishing 11, Information Technology 11/12, Yearbook 11/12 as well I am the Tech Support for my school and department head.  In addition to that I also serve on the District Technology committee for Mission Public School District.  I also run a course for the University of the Fraser Valley through my school that started in February 2010; this may open up further career opportunities for me.

Family Life

I reside in Abbotsford with my wife, Cara, and our three boys.  Payton (11), Tyne (6) and Bryn (5) keep us busy with their schooling and sports.  I coach football, rugby and baseball as well as play rugby and Slo-Pitch.  With work, MET and family, there isn’t many hours left in the day but I still manage to follow the Canucks religiously.

Why I am taking this course

I’m just taking this course now because when it came out, it was limited to students who have taken more than five courses.  At that time, I hadn’t and it just now fits into my schedule.  I think the hands-on approach and the practicality will benefit me when I take ETEC 590 next semester (my last semester!!!!).  I love learning new technology and am very interested in setting up blogs and wikis (I have only dabbled a little bit into them but want to learn more).

This is my 8th MET course.
