{"id":144,"date":"2016-06-03T08:55:41","date_gmt":"2016-06-03T15:55:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/mswynne\/?page_id=144"},"modified":"2016-06-17T10:54:26","modified_gmt":"2016-06-17T17:54:26","slug":"cfe","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/mswynne\/cfe\/","title":{"rendered":"CFE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Community Field Experience<\/p>\n<p>For the last 3 weeks of our extended practicum we take part in a Community Field Experience. \u00a0It is a chance for us to get out of the &#8216;regular&#8217; classroom environment and experience something new. \u00a0We had the option of completing it internationally, in rural British Columbia, or locally. \u00a0I leapt at the opportunity to experience an international CFE. \u00a0I wanted to be taken out of my comfort zone and go somewhere I had never been before.<\/p>\n<p>I enthusiastically chose Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.<\/p>\n<p>Growing up I always said that I wanted to go to Africa. \u00a0I wanted to\u00a0run with the animals, explore the different landscape, \u00a0and teach English in a small community.
