Hello there, welcome to my teaching e-portfolio! My name is Stephanie Yoon and I am a teacher of life skills, aka Home Economics.
My passion lies mainly in Foods and Nutrition and Textiles Studies, and being a learner myself, I am increasingly becoming familiar with Family Studies. I entered into the Faculty of Education during my second year of undergraduate studies through the Home Economics Dual Degree program at the University of British Columbia, and am looking forward to graduating in May 2016. (Click on http://www.landfood.ubc.ca/academics/undergraduate/fnh/dual-degree-fnh-ed/ for more information about this great program!)
Home Ec. 8, when I was in high school, was one of the most memorable classes. I learned to cook and bake in that class, and ever since then, the kitchen was where I felt most relaxed and at home. I then picked up knitting and sewing as a hobby, sewing costumes and knitting scarves as a way to relax. I love to share my passions for enjoying and developing life skills, which is one of the reasons why I have decided on the path of being a home economics educator.
In my spare time, I love to bake, sew, and knit. I’ve recently learned to crochet, so I hope to become better at it! I also play badminton (somewhat competitively) and board games with friends.
