Class introductions – recap of class guidelines, discussed writing prompts from last day
Class wrote on another writing prompt:
Think of a character from a television show, book, or film that you like (use the first character that comes to mind). Why do you like this character? What about them do you relate to? Do you see yourself in this character and if so, how are you similar?
Ms. Mutama introduced a new student to the class – Arnold Spirit (Jr) and mentioned five facts about him.
- He’s about your age 14-15 years old
- Had a serious brain surgery when he was only 6 months old and therefore has a lot of physical problems – such as seizures, stutter and a lisp
- He is Native American – from the Spokane people who live in Wellpinit, Washington
- He loves to draw – A LOT
- He is often the target of bullying and gets beat up quite a bit
We came up with questions to ask him based on the facts we knew about him.
We read the first chapter of The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-time Indian as a class and assigned chapters 2-5 for homework.
