Immoral practices and judgement leads us to believe that poor-decision making in launching this water slide was the main cause in the fatality of a 10 year old boy who died on August 7th of this year at Schlitterbahn water park. According to the star news, this water slide had been tested numerous times and it was made clear that it was not the most consistently safe. In trial runs prior to the opening of this 17 story slide, sandbags flew out the sides of the raft making it evident to Engineers that perhaps they should consider reconstructing the angles of this World Record breaking slide in order to increase the safety of their riders. It is completely unethical for the Business of Schlitterbahn water park to allow such a dangerous amusement ride to be in operation. Businesses and companies need to implement many precautions in order to ensure that the safety of their products and services are essential in service. Behind the trade-off of profit, safety is extremely relevant in any kind of business. In some cases, there were situations where riders seat belts would release during the ride, forcing them to hold on for their lives. It is in cases such as these where this company could have prevented a tragedy. In my personal experience with amusement parks, I understand the advocacy when hearing about “World Tallest Water Slide” however, the safety of our society should be greater than the promotion of a Business. That being said, it is completely unethical to allow such a dangerous ride for customers of this Business.
