Bailamos!

9/2009:

I remember when I was in first year, Clubs Days was like a maze for me with hundreds of clubs that offer you many social events throughout the year. Walking out of that room, I was confused: What do I want? What should I choose?

1 year later…

Clubs Days is over, phewww!!!! I was in charge of OSC booth and it was exhausting smiling at everyone walking by and saying the same thing over and over again. I also got a chance to walk around different rooms to see how other clubs are doing. It feels great seeing my friends being execs for those clubs after a year of growth and progress.

But nothing could entertain me more than walking by Dance clubs. They were dancing passionately non-stop in front of other people. It truly intrigued me to join dance club again, I must say. My passion for latin dance is burning again! I think this is an amazing way to promote for dance club, instead of generic lines that pass from one ear to another. I’d rather SEE than HEAR.

I wonder how they can have enough budget to do all of these things, but I got a bunch of Salsa and Ballroom flyers slipped through my door every single day. If they do this for each unit, it’d cost them 3 flyers x 4 units x 17 floors x 3 buildings = 612 flyers for Gage residence.

Unbelievably a waste of paper, people!

But it killed me…. I’m finally convinced to go to Latin Dance Party tonight and sign up for a Ballroom Class Bronze Level soon.

Shall we dance? Vale, bailamos!

Wants vs. Needs

“What’s marketing?” Tamar raised that question to everyone in class. We all have different subjective ideas on what marketing means to us. Personally, I think it’s an arts of satisfying people’s wants and needs!

Speaking of wants and needs, it’s true that there’s always a grey area between the two. Sometimes you think you need something, but it’s actually an illusion created by your longing as your neighbor owns a new product. A lot of people go bankrupt because they can’t distinguish the two and become a victim of new trends.

I bet many times you’d question yourself “Why would they sell these products?! They are ridiculously useless!” Well, sometimes marketers think the other way around. They create products first, and then use marketing strategies to convince customers to WANT them. One time, I visited a friend and she showed me her brand new iPad. She admitted that she used to think iPad was completely a redundant toy. It’s not as high tech as laptops nor as convenient as cellphones. However, after using it for a while, she completely fell in love with it!

Twitter?

Howdy,

I can’t imagine what I just did. TWITTER? I created this account more than a year ago, and thought it was a stupid idea because I never understood what was actually going on in that crazy website.

BUT… change your mind, My! Because Twitter is rapidly surpassing facebook to become the most popular trend in e-marketing. If you want to be successful in marketing, you gotta go beyond the trend and predict what is happening next!

Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter, Myspace, etc… bring it on to Infinity and Beyond!
