About Me

My name is Myrna Ordona and I was born and raised in a small northern fishing town called Prince Rupert. I absolutely loved growing up in place like Prince Rupert; ocean air, harbour views, tight-knit community, recreation and performing arts, and multiculturalism. My elementary education was completed at Annunciation Catholic School and secondary education at Charles Hays Secondary.

After graduation, I moved to Kamloops, BC to pursue my undergraduate studies as well as the Teaching English as a Second Language certificate program. So with a BA degree and TESL under my belt, I wanted to test the waters of teaching while getting out of my comfort zone. I consider moving to Seoul, South Korea a milestone in my life; I was far from home, lived on my own, was a foreigner in a country where English is not the first language. For two years I had an amazing position as a Guest English Teacher at an elementary school. After all my fun abroad, I knew it was time to finally pursue my Education degree – the last step to officially becoming a teacher. And now here I am, at UBC in the Teaching English Language Learners through Cross Curricular Case-based inquiry (TELL 3C!) cohort.

So close to being done… In my spare time I love to read, go for the occasional jog or spin class, bake and sew!
