Community Field Experience – La Movida Design Studios (Kitsilano)

I was fortunate enough to indulge in one of my hobbies for the CFE. La Movida Design Studios provides after school sewing and design classes for ages 8 and up. Instructors at the studio also do lunch time sewing programs at participating elementary schools. Over the three week period, I assisted with producing sample projects for the studio, and then assisting with the after school classes. The students, or clients that I interacted with were in the intermediate grades – a new experience compared to my long practicum. The studio also hosts birthday parties (small groups for a pre-registered project) which I also assisted with (free cake!)
