The information below is not intended to be a comprehensive resource, but highlights a few key items for international students to consider as you plan your time in the program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:14px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"highlight-box highlight-box-icon\">\n    <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/myubcdap\/files\/2022\/06\/highlight-icon-copy.png\" alt=\"\">\n    <div>\n        <h5>Please note:<\/h5>\n        <p>As an international student, immigration-related policies will play an important role in guiding your program journey.<\/p>\n        <br>\n        <p>\n            Please be aware that Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced important changes to the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) eligibility criteria, which took effect on November 1, 2024. We encourage you to stay informed by regularly checking the eligibility criteria on \n            <a href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/immigration-refugees-citizenship\/services\/study-canada\/work\/after-graduation\/eligibility.html\" target=\"_blank\">\n                <b>Work in Canada after you graduate: Who can apply \u2013 Canada.ca<\/b>\n            <\/a>. \n            At the current time, the Diploma in Accounting Program (DAP) is not considered to be in an eligible field of study for the PGWP.\n        <\/p>\n    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Enrolment Definitions for Immigration Purposes<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Make sure to review&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/students.ubc.ca\/international-student-guide\/immigration\/ubc-definitions-immigration-purposes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">UBC\u2019s enrolment definitions for immigration purposes<\/a>, as your enrolment status each term may have implications on your immigration status and your eligibility to work on and off campus, as well as post-graduation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Course Format Selection \u2013 PGWP eligibility*<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">*<em>For students who are not required to meet the field of study requirements<\/em><br><br>While the DAP program courses are offered in both an online and in-person format, students must ensure that <strong>LESS THAN 50%<\/strong> of the DAP program is completed online to remain eligible to apply for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP). This change reflects the updated policy and is crucial for students planning to work in the country after completing their studies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please be aware of this requirement when planning your course schedule to ensure you meet the eligibility criteria for a work permit.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Program Completion Letters<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following your final term of studies, a custom program completion letter will be automatically issued to international students who have met all program completion requirements at the end of the given term. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Students completing their final term will be informed prior to the start of final exams about the planned date for program completion letters to be sent out.
