Make sure to review the Eligible Experiences and Funding Guidelines below, then submit your application along with your receipts and a letter of reflection. The application link will be updated in early September. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>If you haven\u2019t gone on your experience yet<\/strong>, you can also apply in advance by reviewing the same guidelines. The application link will be updated here in early September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Eligible Experiences and Funding Guidelines<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All applications are assessed on an individual basis. This funding is not to be relied upon as a consistent source of revenue as funding will not be granted to the same organization\/initiative again for a minimum of three academic years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"has-fixed-layout\"><tbody><tr><td><strong>ELIGIBLE EXPERIENCE<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>FUNDING GUIDELINES<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>&gt; Organize a&nbsp;new&nbsp;event, program or service that benefits other students<\/strong><\/td><td>Assessed on a case-by-case basis, dependent on the total budget and other revenue sources.&nbsp;<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js faq-accordion-tech-page\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"false\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><h5 id=\"at-60604\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\"><strong>What experiences or expenses are not covered?<\/strong><\/h5><div id=\"ac-60604\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Student Experience Grant does not cover:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8211; Expenses for food, souvenirs, hotel incidentals, local transportation (taxi, bus, Uber), personal expenses, or events related to charities and faith.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Note:<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/c\/Users\/lisasliu\/AppData\/Local\/Microsoft\/Windows\/INetCache\/Content.Outlook\/Z3L2BUJZ\/Webpage%20-%20UGO%20Student%20Experience%20Grants.docx#_msocom_1\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Major transportation refers to the transportation it takes to get to the destination (flights, train etc) and is determined based on the cost of a reasonable economy itinerary. We do not cover expenses for local transportation such uber, taxis, buses or subways.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Accommodation refers to the cost of reasonable economy hotel rooms or air bnbs, for the duration of the event plus 1 night.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Available Sources of Funding<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You may be eligible for additional funding at UBC. Consider applying for the options that best suit your individual or group needs:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ams.ubc.ca\/opportunities\/funds-grants\/funds-grants\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>AMS Fund<\/strong><\/a> \u2013 Provides funding for events, initiatives, and projects that benefit a significant number of students and build campus community.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/vpstudents.ubc.ca\/walter-gage\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Walter Gage Memorial Fund<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 Supports projects and activities of broad student interest that enhance UBC\u2019s reputation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/communityengagement.ubc.ca\/engage-with-ubc\/awards-funding\/#students\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">UBC Community Engagement Funding<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 Supports student-led initiatives that connect with the wider UBC and Vancouver community.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sauder.ubc.ca\/current-students\/ubc-sauder-edi-action-fund\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">UBC Sauder EDI Action Fund<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 Funds events and initiatives that transform EDI ideas into action.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"at-606011\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ\u2019s)<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js faq-accordion-tech-page\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"false\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><h2 id=\"at-60605\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\"><strong>Are entrepreneurial pursuits eligible for funding?<\/strong><\/h2><div id=\"ac-60605\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This fund is not intended to finance start up businesses. How many nights am I able to request funding for?<\/strong><\/h2><div id=\"ac-60607\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Funding is available for accommodation for a total nights: # of conference days + 1.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js faq-accordion-tech-page\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"false\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><h2 id=\"at-60608\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\"><strong><strong>I\u2019m attending a Case Competition\/Conference. What elements of my experience are eligible to be included in my budget request?<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2><div id=\"ac-60608\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Reimbursement is available for: major travel (airplane\/trains), cost of hotel\/AirBnB, and event registration fees. Funding is not eligible for minor travel (taxi\/Uber\/transit) nor food\/grocery costs.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js faq-accordion-tech-page\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"false\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><h2 id=\"at-60609\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\"><strong>I\u2019m applying for the grant for a team activity, but my teammate paid for everything.<\/strong><\/h2><div id=\"ac-60609\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your team is still able to be reimbursed, however the reimbursed amount would go to the person whose name is on the receipts. The person whose name is on the receipts must be a BCom or DAP student. Your team would then coordinate payments between team members on your own terms. This is not the responsibility of UBC Sauder.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js faq-accordion-tech-page\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"false\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><h2 id=\"at-606010\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\"><strong>I am applying for the grant on behalf of my club\/team. Does this mean my entire team is ineligible to apply for further grant funding for the next two academic years?<\/strong><\/h2><div id=\"ac-606010\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If the grant is used to fund a student led event or initiative, or case competition\/conference, the club\/team will not be eligible for funding for the next two academic years. However, the individual members are still eligible to apply for personal grants in the future.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js faq-accordion-tech-page\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"false\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><h2 id=\"at-606011\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\"><strong>If the committee decides to fund my application, however I do not accept, would I still have to wait two academic years before applying again?<\/strong><\/h2><div id=\"ac-606011\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No \u2013 The two-year rule would only apply to applicants who received\/were reimbursed for any amount of funding from the grant.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js faq-accordion-tech-page\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"false\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><h2 id=\"at-606012\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\"><strong>As<strong> an applicant for a Student Led Initiative, what should I be cognizant of in my application?<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2><div id=\"ac-606012\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Student Experience Grant is looking to fund opportunities where applicants: (1) are proposing a new, innovative, and clearly defined program to fill a niche not already being filled for current BCom or DAP students. (2) have a clear funding breakdown of how the funds will be spent. Only then will UBC Sauder Finance reimburse these costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For organizers of Student Led Initiatives, if you are applying on behalf of an organization, your organization will invoice the OSAS Grant and UBC Sauder Finance will pay the invoice. If you are an individual organizing an initiative, we will reimburse receipts after they have been purchased or you may direct your partners to invoice UBC Sauder directly.
