Becoming an Educator

They say change doesn’t happen overnight. Reflecting back on my high school and post-secondary years I am able to identify many moments that have helped lead me to the path of becoming an educator. My development as an educator is similar to that of a chemical reaction with a slow reaction rate. In Chemistry we often speed up reactions by introducing a catalyst (speeds up the reaction without being used up). The catalyst in my development as an educator was my grade 12 chemistry teacher who also happened to be one of my practicum school advisors. In grade 11 chemistry I was the top student in my class, therefore my friends and classmates came to me for help and not only did I provide it I usually went out of my way to give it. I always enjoyed learning and welcomed others to join me.
