Kate's E-portfolio

I’m working in Production department and Music library in VSO. We usully have 2~3 concerts every week. When we have a concert that day I help production manager and prepare food and supplies for special guest musicians on backstage. The day when we don’t have a concert, I organize music scores for next concert or previous one in music library. And I make some organized schedule using Excel and MS Publisher. In special case like elementary encounters program, I help my collegues as well. When students visit our Orpheum theatre I assist students to tour theatre and when we visit school I assist musicians to teach well. My work is usually diffrent by the day so it’s really enjoyable and even i’m looking forward to going my work every morning because i’m wondering about what i am going to do today.

One of the reasons why I love my company is I can listen gorgeous music whenever I want in rehearsal and real concert. When I was in Korea I had wanted to go classical concert but I couldn’t go often because it costs a lot to student. However, nowadays I always listen the music which I love so It is always happy to me. And my supervisor always gives two tickets to me whenever we have a concert so sometimes I invited my friends to Orpheum theatre and introduced my workplace to them proudly.

I had an experience of working in concert hall for college orchestra in Korea but I didn’t know exactly about how the concert is made because I worked for a short time. But now, I know how the concert is made well because I’m in the middle of important processing. And I also learned  communication of Canadian workers and encountering their customs and languages is interesting to me. The most important thing which I have learned here is I get started to think more about my future dream. Actually I supposed to go to bank for my job but after working here for a short time, I realized I love this work and I hope to do this work for a long time. I thougt It would be wonderful if I works in a Orchestra marketing department. I didn’t decide exactly im just in the stage of thinking but I’m really happy to have an opportunity to take seriously about my future. I wish I would learn more and more than before and I’m looking foward to meeting me who is advanced a lot compared to before internship.
