For as long as I can remember, I have always dreamed of being a teacher. As a young child, this was mainly because I looked up to each and every one of my own teachers. I was always amazed by the many different things teachers had to do. I was so interested in their work that I even tried to recreate a classroom in my own home. In a spare room, I decided to set up a mock classroom. I would take any materials my teachers did not need (books, stickers, assorted task sheets) and use them to make a realistic classroom at home. I would gather all of my cousins (about 10) and proceed on teaching them various lessons. I wish I could share a picture of my mock classroom in this profile and if I ever do come across one, I surely will. However, in my later school years, I was truly inspired by one teacher. This teacher sincerely valued the importance of education and it came across in her motivation and passionate drive to inspire the same value in her students. I was definitely one student that caught on. To this day, I highly believe the utmost reasoning behind my becoming a teacher is to continue this teacher’s value of education and instilling this value in our upcoming generations. I definitely believe education is not sometimes given the level of value it deserves and I chose to be a teacher to rectify this. That is, to instill in other students the drive and motivation to learn and actually understand just why education should be highly valued, as my teacher did for me.
