My name is Navneet Hans, and I am a 24 year old second generation Indo-Canadian woman who is the first in my family to go to school in Canada. My undergraduate degree was in English and the Humanities, and it ties into my obsessive love for learning, reading, and writing that has been with me since I was very young. However, I feel as though I could have specialized in many different things–at different times in my life I have entertained ambitions of being a psychologist, a counselor, an art therapist, an occupational therapist, and sometimes I truly wish I had just specialized in education itself because I find I enjoy my post-graduate work now much more than I ever did with my undergraduate degree. I also love to travel, read, and write, and I have always enjoyed artistic hobbies as well. My biggest passion of all is probably school, and I hope to foster a lifelong love of learning in my students as well.

I have experiences volunteering with teaching children both abroad and in Canada. In 2012, I spent a brief amount of time on a school program in Italy, and I volunteered with kids in grades 3-5 then. I have extensive experience working with kids with special needs, as I spent a year as a Special Education Assistant during my time as an undergraduate at Simon Fraser University. I have spent some time volunteering in special needs classrooms in Coquitlam, as well as conducting occupational therapy with children. I am also the older sister of two brothers who are 11 and 13. All these experiences have given me the knowledge, skills and passion that have brought me here. I speak fluent English and Punjabi and I can also understand Hindi fluently, which I feel may be an asset in the classroom.
