\u201cPlatform Evaluation\u201d\u00a0\u00a0\u2013 Group Assignment Criteria<\/h3>\n

LMS are designed to incorporate multiple\u00a0functions serving multiple user audiences and specific\u00a0organizational purposes. Thus, naturally, LMS can get different evaluation scores when assessed from these different perspectives. Course designer evaluation of a platform will differ from an instructor or\u00a0student evaluations, an educational administrator assessment categories\u00a0will not coincide with parameters used by a system administrator\u00a0assessing\u00a0LMS functionality.<\/p>\n

In this assignment you are asked to evaluate an\u00a0online delivery platform from an organizational standpoint (considering organizational mission, efficiency and sustainability).<\/p>\n

In this course we are focusing on\u00a0the following LMS and platforms: the UBC based Connect<\/a>,Moodle<\/a>, WordPress<\/a>, and EdX.Edge<\/a>; and a cloud based platform \u2013 eliademy<\/a>. Conduct\u00a0LMS evaluation, consider how implementing one LMS or a combination of several can help your organization to achieve its stated goals. Write a report to inform the organizational decision-making about implementation of a particular LMS (or a combination of tools) within the\u00a0organization.<\/p>\n

Working as a\u00a0group, determine\u00a0criteria, and provide clear reasons for recommending a particular tool(s)\u00a0to this\u00a0organization. Consider how this\u00a0choice will affect the organizational goals, the resources available, and some of the organization\u2019s perspectives.<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0Choose one of\u00a0the following organizational\u00a0contexts<\/p>\n

\u2013 A secondary School (K-12);<\/p>\n

\u2013 A\u00a0community organization (non-profit or for-profit);<\/p>\n

\u2013 An\u00a0institution of higher education.<\/p>\n

2. Subscribe to a corresponding group, via\u00a0Assignments Groups<\/a>\u00a0on the Connect course page, you may\u00a0use this discussion as your group collaboration-space. The group limit is 5 participants.<\/p>\n

3. Working as a group write a report <\/strong>\u2013 Platform\/LMS Evaluation. The purpose of this report is to inform the decision about what LMS better fits the goals and the context of your organization.<\/p>\n

(A) Briefly describe an organization of your choice, the reasons for\u00a0LMS implementation, (consider the organizations\u2019 needs and resources) and what does this\u00a0organization\u00a0plan to achieve as a result.<\/p>\n

(B) Explain what functionality (elements, qualities, affordances and features) of a particular LMS informs your recommendation? Support your reasoning with evidence: your own experiences and observations, research data, expert\u2019s opinions, peer reviewed publications.<\/p>\n

(C) Consider sustainability: whether your recommended LMS functionality fit the long term goals of the organization and the industry trends?<\/p>\n

4. Publish\u00a0your group report on the\u00a0individual ePortfolio pages of the group members (these will be identical posts for every member in your group).<\/p>\n

5. Submit your Platform Evaluation report\u00a0individually.<\/p>\n
