I think that it showcased the gritty and realistic nature of the robbers more than what we see in typical representations in Hollywood and other media, where robbers almost always seem romanticized and incredibly witty. These lot in actuality are just a run of the mill group that has some skills in questionable areas. They’re ruthless and brash, but fuelled more by desperation than anything else. The robbery itself is a clear picture of that desperation fuelled attempt at robbery. The robbery has each person playing their skills to the max but also freaking out and panicking. Because of this, paranoia and bloodbath occur in the robbery. The standoff also is a crazy experience where we really see the group really boil down and any sense of actual groupwork break down. We see how the group starts to realize that they’re in over their heads and aren’t gonna be making it out. They mentally start breaking down and we see it happen through our book. The group faces a corrupt bunch of cops who would likely just pocket quite a lot of the money rather than being outstanding police officers. The cops don’t really follow the best moral code as you’d maybe hope for from regular. Malito, the twins, and Crow all seem to be just osme fellas doing something that they might feel is their only route of action to make it out of their situations. Though, really they are just a group with some tighter bonds and less tighter bonds. I wonder how people at home take it too, since they saw the news highlights as well. Burning the money just sent people over the edge, as everyone was so poor and had nothing. Honestly, I kind of agree with the group that they burned the money! I’d do the same thing if I were in their shoes. They know that the money they robbed was never gonna be theirs once they were arrested or killed, so might as well have one last hurrah and go out with a bang. If I know I’m getting in trouble or possibly killed, I’d probably forget about being rational and whatnot LOL. I think they’re kind of relatable for that, what would you have done if you were in their situation?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
Piglia’s Money to Burn was intense… I’ve honestly never read a book like this, it really reminded me of a movie I watched in my childhood, which I can’t seem to remember the name of but it started with the letter s (I’ll try to remember)..
