Life happens. Unexpectedly you may realize life cannot continue as it was.
In February 2021, I left a lucrative career in the infection prevention and biosecurity industry, where I was responsible for managing clinical studies with hospitals looking at how to improve cleaning and disinfection practices, educating our staff, partners, and distributors, and developing my reputation as an expert and North American Thought Leader on the topic of infection prevention and biosecurity. When I left my job, many thought I was crazy. I was in a booming industry and excelling at what I do. However, I was getting bored, and after speaking to groups about COVID-19 and how to stay safe, I realized that the platforms we were using and how we were presenting or training did not consider the diverse learning needs of those in the audience.
Reflecting on my experience as a leader, I had to admit that when I looked back over the years, the people that I had to terminate due to poor job performance in part may have been a result of not providing training and information in a way that set them up for success. This led me to the MET program. I am now in my fourth semester (sixth & seventh courses) while building a consulting company focusing on strategic storytelling, content marketing, and learning experience design. Onboarding and setting employees up for success are vitally important. I want to help companies develop training programs to make their staff successful by assisting them in realizing that a cookie-cutter approach does not work.
Ultimately, my life’s mission is to educate, nurture, and empower people to have the confidence to think differently and share their knowledge through storytelling.
