Welcome to my eportfolio!

I do not consider myself a person that is very technologically-savvy, so when I found out that as part of my degree program I had to take GEOB 270, I was frightened. I learned a lot though, as well as having a lot of my pre-conceived thoughts confirmed. First, GIS, and geography in general, is a very powerful tool. Conveying information visually, like on a map, is an easy way to get ideas across, and I have learnt through experience that how exactly you portray your data makes an exceptional difference as to how your audience will understand it. As well, computers are such smart machines; if something does not seem to be working, it is not because the computer is dumb, it is because whoever is operating it has made a mistake. Next, GIS is extraordinarily useful and is used in a very broad range of disciplines, where you may not even expect it. And lastly, I am still not very computer-savvy, but I am so glad I had to take this course as it pushed me to challenge myself, learn new software, and become a more well-rounded individual.
