About Me

I am Noelle Hsieh, a third year Bachelor of Computer Science Second Degree student in UBC. I graduated last year with a degree in Food Market Analysis obtained at UBC as well. I decided to come back to school because computer science is an interesting area, and I believe that computer science would be a useful skill in the future. I realized that it is my last chance, maybe, to stay in school before I actually step into the society, so I treasure this opportunity and look forward to learning new knowledges.

I was born in Taiwan and immigrated to Vancouver with my family seven years ago. I was nervous but excited when I first came here. The environment here is so different that it took me sometime to adapt to the culture. I have encountered some difficulties in the first few years, but those hard times made me stronger and stronger every time.

My hobbies are playing piano, travelling, and photography. I have been playing piano for almost 15 years and it became my interest and stress reliever. I also love to travel. I tend to plan everything myself and have a deep understanding of the cities I would like to visit before I actually go on a trip. Photography is a must during a trip, so I usually end up with more than 3000 pictures in my camera for each 1-2 week trip.

My ultimate goal is to have my own business with the support of computer science. I would like to design apps that are useful and suitable for children and students. I also would like to develop games that are both educational and entertaining. I believe that computer science is already in our everyday life, so it would be fun to know more about this area. And that is why I am back to school to study for computer science.
