Power Outage

Right. I should’ve woke up half an hour early instead of waking up at the last minute. I thought I was gonna be able to catch the 6:01 bus waking up at 5:50. I would be, if the bus didn’t come 5 minutes early, like it’s rushing to avoid me on purpose. When I know I missed the bus, and next one is 20 minutes later, I took things slow. Not rushing to change, but when I went to the washroom and switched on the light- nothing,  nothing happened.

I found it odd. So I opened up the drier reaching for some socks- nothing.  Plug-in alarm- nada, ot:her lights- nope.  I thought the fuse were short circuit so I went to tweek, then I realize no street light out there. Blackout! But what?! Nothing special happened that I remembered! I slept at 4 am which means I only was unconscious for less than 2 hours. No wonder my phone wasn’t charging when I woke up. According to my battery record, the power started draining after 5:33.

I know it’s inconvenient during blackout, but this morning it sure slowed down my preparation quite a bit. It’s all dark. Hard to find anything, I used my phone as light source and prepared my lunch. While I’m doing so, I kept calling my sister who’s still sleeping upstairs, I called like 7times consecutively! She didn’t pick up at all….if one day, in the morning, I get into something I shouldn’t, I’ll be sure not to call her. I bet even with me dying on the other end, she’d still choose to sleep on.

When I was finished I couldn’t find my chopsticks case and I had no time, it was 6:17 if the buses( 2 comes at 6:21) both come early, I’m done. So I just put them into my plastic bag then my backpack and ran out. I was a minute or two earlier than the bus so I got on. The intersection had no light, but when I passed, they weren’t so bad just a slight traffic and accidents at 104 and 152. But, no,  after I decided to step off 335 to change for other bus that goes straight to surrey central. It was a long wait, I saw 320 went straight on 152 instead of turning onto 104 to guildford exchange.  332 (326 change) came straight in as usual, the bus driver came out and told everyone going to the skytrain to board because the traffic right at 104 and 152 became really bad. It’s a really major intersection and lots of cars of all sizes ( many many huge trucks) run on there. 4 way stop method obviously is going to delay everyone.

I hesitated, but at last, hopped on. We managed to get there only a minute after the 335 I was on, so I wasn’t too pissed. Probably because they loaded all the people making it unnecessary for us to stop for empty bus stops. I always think it’s dumb to not space out these two buses. They run the same route after guildford! Actually, cancel 332 and make them all 335, much easier.

Arriving at gateway at 6:40 isn’t bad at all. I’m now on 99 heading UBC and already at Grandville street by 7:25. I won’t be late to class- yay. I wish my day could start less hectic. But it all turned out fine for now so, I’m content. Hopefully everything goes well after,  and my <2 hour sleep is enough to keep me up long enough!
