Welcome to our class blog for INLG 380 Technologies for Language Documentation and Revitalization – Winter 2024.
This year the students in this class are all students in the Bachelor of nsyilxcn Language Fluency degree – the second cohort of this degree here at UBC Okanagan.
One of their class assignments was to learn how to use QR codes for language revitalization and so they have all recorded the audio for the Nsyilxcn Street Signs that appear on UBC Okanagan campus.
With help from their nsyilxcn language instructors, Dr. Jeannette Armstrong and Dr. John Lyon, they have also recorded additional nsyilxcn words for common campus items.
Please look for these QR codes on campus!
Each student has written about their experience in this project and their thoughts appear here along with their audio recordings.
We hope you enjoy learning more about this project and about the nsyilxcn words we’ve recorded as part of this project.
