Methods

During this study, 20 sets of observations were made during 60 min intervals to record if the sample was male, female, active or inactive. All sets of observations were made in the same location over the course of 4 consecutive weeks from 4:30-5:30, excluding Saturday’s and Sunday’s. To ensure consistency and to minimize experimental error each group member was assigned specific roles during the accumulation of data. One person recorded environmental observations, one determined male or female, one timed the session, one observed if samples were active or non active, and one recorded the results. Data was collected directly into excel to minimize experimental error.  The materials used throughout the assignment included, a timer, excel for recording data as well as graphing the results, and internet based sources for research.
