Total Revision & Final Program

After discussing the program I’ve created for Parks Canada with my supervisor and also two sponsor teachers, I’ve decided to modify it heavily: I’m going to totally re-define this Plant Identification Sheet, as well as change the flow and activity order (removing some of the activities altogether).

I think this is prudent due to student motivation to learn, and also the revision of the P.I.S. has it focus more upon invasive grass identification, rather than endangered species of dune plants. Personally, I don’t care about the invasive grasses, and think that endangered plants are far more important, but this revision will be more in-line with the objectives of Parks Canada’s Dune Restoration Program.

The lesson plan, itself, now flows much smoother, and has more variety (as previously the transitions of the lesson plan were not inclusive of all the students; if they wanted to identify plants, they would miss the more scientific presentations while we walked the beach). We’ll see how it goes, tomorrow…. the first field trip / test run begins at 0900hrs.
