I generated several comments after reading a business blog regarding the “China urban poverty and inequality ”written by Elizabeth Stuart.
Firstly, I totally agree with the authors’ perspective that the development of China has successfully assisted that nation to eradicate or minimize the poverty within the urban areas, whereas China currently is still confronting with economic disparity which requires extra attentions from the domestic government. Within this blog, a wide range of data and survey such as China Household Income Project, government subsidy and Gini Coefficient were used to verify the thesis. This successful and substantial growth is based on the rapid expansion of labor market and a series of domestic government regulations.
In addition, from my point of view, the economic inequality in China could be viewed as a serious issue which requires the domestic government’s prompt attention. Despite the fact that the Chinese government has been carrying out a series of regulations such as the progressive taxation which has been proved to exert potential positive influence on relieve social economic inequality owing to the distributional effect as well as the government-funded transfer programmes, the domestic economic inequality of disabled people or those who live in the rural areas still remains.
