Yet, I am learning so many new things about educational technology already. The first course I am taking towards the MET degree, <strong>ETEC511: Foundations of Educational Technology<\/strong> course, has introduced me to new ideas and topics. \u00a0What I find especially\u00a0exciting, is sharing and learning from my classmates.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>In the\u00a0<span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">ETEC511\u00a0<\/span>course we explored the history of educational technology. One\u00a0theme that emerged was that all the educational technologies (such as;\u00a0lectures, pencils, calculators, PowerPoints, clickers, ipads. etc.) were all at some point, considered to be\u00a0novel and faced resistance by some.\u00a0In fact, for all these technologies strong arguments can be made both for and against their uses. (<em><a href=\"http:\/\/archive.wired.com\/wired\/archive\/11.09\/ppt2.html\" target=\"_blank\">Powerpoint is Evil<\/a><\/em>, was one of the more\u00a0strongly worded articles.) However, there has been no substantial research providing overwhelming evidence that one form of educational technology is superior than another.<\/p>\n<p>It is also true that we live in a\u00a0society which is\u00a0enamoured with the idea of progress. \u00a0We\u00a0\u00a0value the newest, fastest, sleekest, shiniest technological gadgets and tools. In one of the course discussions, a classmate mentioned this wonderful &#8220;new&#8221; technology.
