“The Art and Arhitecture of Iran” seeks to explore the vibrant traditions of the art and architecture of one of the oldest civilizations of the world, Iran. “The Art and Architecture of Iran” examines these traditions from the dawn of Iranian monarchy in 500 BC, through the Pre-Islamic period and particularly focuses on the post Islamic period. Modern Iranian designs are also emphasized on in this course. Exploring the common characteristics and thematic threads that run through Iranian decorative art and architecture and providing the participants with the ability to use and contribute to the art and history as a means of studying cultural and social values is another purpose of this course.
