- Basel rosette of leaves in its first year. In second year a 1.5 m spire covered with bell shaped flowers emerges. Flowers range from white to purple, and have spotted nectar guides.
- Poisonous. Foxglove contains a powerful heart stimulant used in the drug Digitalis.
- Self-seeding. Will usually spread itself around a garden, but is easy to remove from unwanted locations.
- Good bumblebee plant.
- Quintessential cottage garden flower. Excellent for the back of a border. Provides nice vertical accents. Best to work with its here-and-there nature rather than specify an exact location.
