- Very fine, spiny-but-soft foliage. Pale blue, five-petal flowers shrouded in leaves (“mist”). Attractive buds and dried flowers.
- Related to Nigella sativa, or black cumin, a culinary spice.
- Full sun. Well-drained soil. Self-seeding. Produces a large quantity of seeds.
- An interesting, fine textured element for a border. Great in a container. Could be used in a cottage/woodland garden, despite its Mediterranean origin.
