- Grass-like perennial ground cover
- Dense, dark green, grass-like foliage 5-10 cm tall
- Not completely cold hardy in Vancouver – tips will brown during a cold winter
- Tolerant of full shade
- Not tolerant of traffic. This is problematic as people assume they can walk on short grasses. Will die back in areas where it has been walked on.
- Very attractive when healthy. Excellent as a ground in areas where there will be no traffic, such as a courtyard with restricted access. Pairs well with rocks, moss, or sparse trees in a minimal planting.
