Textbook:   Calculus, by James Stewart, 8th edition.

Course Description: Differentiation and integration of exponential and logarithmic functions; methods of integration and applications; indeterminate forms, L’Hospital’s rule and improper integrals; sequences, series, power series and Taylor series.

Content: Topics include

      • Inverse Functions: Inverse Functions, Exponential Functions and Their Derivatives, Logarithmic Functions and Their Derivatives, Exponential Growth and Decay, Inverse Trigonometric Functions, Indeterminate Forms and l’Hospital’s Rule.
      • Techniques of Integration: Integration by Parts, Trigonometric Integrals, Trigonometric Substitution, Integration of Rational Functions by Partial Fractions, Strategy for Integration, Improper Integrals.
      • Infinite Sequences and Series: Sequences, Series, The Integral Test and Estimates of Sums, The Comparison Tests, Alternating Series, Absolute Convergence and the Ratio and Root Tests, Strategy for Testing Series, Power Series, Representation of Functions as Power Series, Taylor and Maclaurin Series.

Prerequisite: MATH 110, or MATH 103 with a grade of at least 80%.
