About us

Sometimes you need to look at a community, and not see what they are lacking, but take a deeper look to see what they can offer.”

– From our group discussion with Brenda (Vancouver Arts Parks Board Programmer) and Stephanie (UBC LFS 350 Coordinator and Intercultural Coordinator/Developer with Parks Board)

As a group of students from LFS 350, we are a diverse group with many different interests who have similar goals. We all aim to understand the community that we live in and to help in what way we can while expressing ourselves through creative means to help educate everyone else about those who are interested or would like to be an active part in the community. Our group consists of five amazing individuals:

Stella So, a third-year student in Food, Nutrition and Health Major with an interest in athletics, health, nutrition, and food safety. During some down time, she enjoys baking, computer gaming (and streaming!), and creating stories of otherworldly places in Dungeons and Dragons.

Nian Liu, a fourth-year student in Food, Nutrition and Health Major with an interest in computer science. She loves hot pot and enjoy playing video games and is really looking forward to the Monster Hunter: World, which is new game release on Jan 26th.

Lydia Blackwell, a fourth-year student in Food, Nutrition and Health major with an interest in cooking, gardening, and food system equity. She enjoys long walks on the beach, campfires, and Piña Coladas.

Luisa Salimbangon is a third-year student in Global Resources Systems. Her area of interests includes food and resource economics and sustainable businesses. She enjoys painting, Netflix and garlic bread!

Jeff Cooper, something like a fourth-year student with a Specialization in Food Market Analysis. A love for the retail food landscape (let’s go grocery shopping!), a penchant for travel, and a dislike for fedoras.
