Learning process and Assignments
Throughout the semester I learned so much about technical writing. Not only did I learn how to write memos, proposals, resumes, and cover letters but also, from a professional point of view where I will benefit once I enter the workplace or just finding a job. I also didn’t realize how complicated the rules are, but help from the textbook and feedback from my instructor and peers made things easier. For example, the peer-reviewing process is quite difficult for me at first because I don’t really know what to say, and even with examples provided in the “Instructor blogs” I was still having trouble with it. But with the various peer review opportunities offered throughout the semester, I learned to be a good peer reviewer. On top of that, I also learn so much about things from my own field of study, Psychology when doing the Definition Assignment. Furthermore, each assignment also has improved my writing skills dramatically; I find writing the report especially helpful because not only did it help me improve my writing but, writing a report is especially useful because as a possible Law student and lawyer, there will be a lot of reports so, this report really worth doing.
Weakness
While I learn a lot and gained a lot of insights about technical writing, I find my weakness is the use of improv words too much in writing -ing words and grammar is another issue that I have, which affected my grades a little and clarity might also an issue but the feedbacks really helped resolve these issues. Moreover, it is because of the feedback I received that has helped me improve my writing.
Future goals
As I mentioned earlier, I did learn a lot about technical writing, but the most important part is learning how to write memos, proposals and reports, CVs and cover letters correctly and professionally because these are required for the workplace or in Graduate School. Therefore, these assignments prepared me for either the workplace or post-graduate studies. In my case, the work I will be doing in Law school and more specifically the reports I might need to write in Law School. So, this course taught me the required skills for me to be successful in the future.
