Mothers daily behaviors threatening the baby food market

To save money, be environment friendly and to introduce their babies to general gastronomic culture, mothers nowadays tend to cook simple infant meals  rather than buying  industry made baby food. By doing so mothers threatens the profits of compagnies such as Beech-Nut. The article argues that , in this case , the baby food makers should be more concerned about social responsibilities rather than “market share and profit margins.”. It opposes Milton Friedman’s article “The Social Responsibility of Business is to Increase Profits” which states that businesses should maximize their profit within the rules ( no fraud or deception) but not spend their capital on social matters. Rebecca Todd Peters contradicts this by encouraging compagnies in the baby food market  to care for a more about the well being of the society, here support a “healthy, environmentally beneficial trend”. Furthermore,  even tough she recognizes the important place and role of the goods created by business profits, she conveys that our society has today put capitalism over social values , eventually advising firms to take a new direction.
