Podcasting in Canada continues to grow and flourish.
Over 270 active and independently produced podcasts are listed on the CanadaPodcasts.ca directory. More still can be found in online music stores and other online aggregators.
Major and independent Canadian media organizations are also producing a wide variety of podcasts.
Universities, colleges, high schools and public schools have also jumped on the bandwagon.
Podcasting may not have exploded like Twitter or Facebook, but for the many Canadians who enjoy producing podcasts and the many more who enjoy listening, the progression from September 2004 to today has been worthwhile.
Although some critics have questioned whether podcasting is a dead medium, the strength and vibrance of Canada’s diverse array of podcasts speaks stongly to the contrary. Adam Curry, the “PodFather himself,” even joined a virtual roundtable discussion in January 2009 to reject new claims that “podcasting is dead.”
Podcasting in Canada is alive and well.
