6.b) The Canadian Podcast Buffet

in 6. Canada's Podcast Community

The Canadian Podcast Buffet is a weekly podcast dedicated to Canadian podcasts.

Featuring previews, reviews, tech advice, events, discussions, debates, interviews and podsafe music, the Buffet’s mission is to promote and connect Canadian podcasts.

The idea for the Buffet was hatched by Mark Blevis and Bob Goyetche, two of Canada’s early podcasters, at the first Montreal Podcast Meet-Up on September 9, 2005.

Those discussions were amazingly fruitful: not only did Bob and Mark start producing The Canadian Podcast Buffet, but they inspired, encouraged and assisted countless Canadian podcasters.

Bob still insists the motives behind the Buffet were not entirely benevolent.  Both Mark and Bob gained a lot from forging this new path.

  • Bob explains:

Mark also points out that they weren’t the only Canadian podcasters sensing an absence of community support.

Since its premier episode on December 1, 2005, The Canadian Podcast Buffet has been talking to, for and about Canadian podcasters.  To inform themselves about their topic, Mark proposed and then embarked on an ambitious plan: he was going to download and listen to every podcast in Canada.

The Canadian Podcast Buffet was a success from the start.  Over one-hundred and fifty episodes have now been published and countless podcasters have benefited because of the information and inspiration Bob and Mark have provided.
