Whether for the sheer beauty of forests or the freedom of the wildlands, my interests and passions have always been rooted in the enjoyment of the great outdoors and the resources that they provide. My recent academic pursuits have reflected this; now a fourth year student in Forest Resource Management with a background in Biological Sciences. Growing up in the foothills of Calgary, my close ties with family and friends have taken me hiking, fishing, mountain biking and camping time and time again across Alberta and British Columbia; an active lifestyle that has been fostered by five years of varsity-level volleyball at Red Deer College and the University of British Columbia. Summer employment has taken myself across the boreal forests of Northern Alberta and the Northwest Territories as a member of a wildfire management crew, often working with local First Nations fire crews to successfully suppress wildfires or mitigate their potential risk. Upon completion of my degree, future plans are to move back to Alberta and continue working in wildfire management, with further aspirations of travelling, an open mindset and a career-path that brings me genuine enjoyment.
