Hello! My name is Pooja Patel (she/her) and I am a recent graduate student from the Faculty of Science at UBC. I majored in human physiology and neuroscience which allowed me to attain an adequate understanding of the connection between psychological and cellular processes as well as how the impairment of one or the other affects the overall health of a person.
Through various volunteer work with children, including BCCH and the Canucks Autism Network, I have learned of my passion and love for children. Through a combination of my appreciation for little humans and anatomy, my long-term goal is to obtain a career in pediatric medicine. I hope to also provide my professional health services in undeveloped countries to those who are unable to access healthcare as freely as we are able to. I believe being able to grow up in a powerful nation is a privilege and it would only be fair to give back to those who did not.
People often describe me as a dedicated, self-motivated team player. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, practicing photography, and trying new food places!
Thank you for taking the time to get to know me briefly!
