Placing a memorial bench is a popular way for people to use in Metro Vancouver to keep their memories for their important persons. Also, the benches provide an opportunity for the passerby to stay and rest. Based on this trend, more benches should be placed in some regional parks. Our group uses Pacific Spirit Regional Park as an example to examine some ideal locations to place the memorial benches along the trail. The objective of this study is to provide suitable locations in Pacific Spirit Regional Park for placing benches. The criteria for selecting those potential bench locations are based on various environmental, demographical and ecological factors/conditions such as the steepness of the slope, closeness to school, facilities and bus stop as well as demographics of nearby communities.
