I am an artist and art educator with a strong passion for art, people and their cultures. My teaching philosophy is creating an educational environment for my students in which they practice to be open minded and respectful to all people from different cultures or races. In my pedagogy, I like to raise awareness about the importance of community and togetherness. My art projects hover over the concept of connection and integration.
My Art is not separate from my teaching, I have a desire to connect with people and listen to their stories. In my art practices too, I usually talk about my passion of connection and communication. My art works express the struggles and the difficulties of living between two cultures and the labour of assimilation.
In my recent art projects, I brought my art practices and teaching art projects more closer by bringing performance art as one of the most influential contemporary art practices to my pedagogy. My aim is finding a meeting point between art making and teaching art in a way that my students and also my pedagogy and Art all merge together and overlap each other completely. When this happen, the artist and teacher, the student and instructor, the material and concept all find the same meaning and matter. There is no authority or autonomy of one over the other. This is the moment that I strive for…..
Dear Parvin;
I was delighted to see that you won a residency at BAF and I congratulate you for this and fully intend to go see the exhibition to see your work.
I am so delighted that you have continued to seriously pursue you work and to realize that you went to Chicago to get your MFA. I hope that you feel proud of yourself with your many accomplishments.
I think back fondly to when I worked with you when you were a student. at Emily Carr and have thought of you since you graduated. Maybe we can meet at some point in the future the you have time as that would be lovely. Fondly, Camrose
