Our group is trying something different for the online meeting portion of our module. We are holding a chat via Twitter.
The chat will start Sunday, November 4 at 7:00 pm PST.

Our tendency to get attached to “relational artifacts”, as Turkle puts it, is not new. Some people anthropomorphize things like cars while, in this case, it’s technological devices such as iPhones,computers,etc Dall’Alba and Barnacle add the element of a common goal that creates and strengthens the bond. However, in the case of a virtual world, could this relationship with technology go too far, or is it an exceptional way to expand our horizons?
To join the chat:
- New users may want to log into Twitter, go to http://tweetchat.com/, authorize the site to interact your Twitter account (this can be undone later if you’d like), and search for our hashtag #mod8chat . You will be able to fully participate from that web page without the need for a Twitter client.
- The more experienced and adventurous, may want to follow the hashtag #mod8chat using the native Twitter app in either its browser or mobile platform. The are other Twitter apps that can be used including TweetDeck and Tweetbot.
- We’ll add those who forward their Twitter handle to this Twitter list so people can continue the discussion.
Janet Fouts offers some good suggestions as does Socialfresh.com for participating in a chat.
So feel free to join in from where ever you are and on whatever device you choose.
