Welcome to My Portfolio!

My name is Prab Dhillon and I am currently majoring in Geographical Sciences at the University of British Columbia. In this blog, I have highlighted my work that I have done during my introduction to Georgraphic Information Science. This course has made me realize how important maps are to our understanding of the world and how useful they can be when it comes to analyzing many different situations. When I first started making maps, I didn’t truly realize how detailed they had to be and I had to learn that when I am making maps, I am making them for someone else, such as the general public, and they will be looking at the map from a different lens than me. What I was most proud of during this course was my ability to bring all of what I learned in the course together and do a GIS analysis for my project without any help, like we got when we did our labs. My biggest takeaway from this course is that maps can very easily be misrepresented and manipulated to show what you want the audience to see.
