Ethical practices for a business are crucial in deciding the way the company functions. The multinational company, Apple Inc., is doing just that to ensure their well-established brand image stays the same. As seen in the article, “Apple gets into forest conservation in China and the US”  Apple announces to work towards conserving forests by buying and conserving around 36,000 acres of forests in the U.S. from commercial development. Additionally, they plan to enhance the management of approximately 1 million acres around China.

Following ethics and being socially responsible has it’s pros and cons. I feel that Apple’s brand image would enhance further by implementing this plan of conservation, as development and technology dominates nature and wildlife. It could potentially escalate the sales due to good publicity. However, this comes with a threat of increased costs of production from constrains such as limited properties that would sell commercial timber.

Executing this plan, which also includes using recycled materials and certified forests, would attract customers who are ethical. Apple would dodge a huge obstacle such as expensive cases filed against the company for unethical behaviour, if they would enforce these plans.

Apple could perhaps strengthen its existing brand image by carrying forward this ethical business plan.
