Personally, I feel that marketing on a platform such as YouTube, helps widen and diversify their target market of customers. Directing traffic directly to merchant websites is very convenient for the interested customers to make their purchases. Since the viewer can see the products in the video they are watching and if they are willing to buy the product, they are free to directly go to the product’s website and I feel that this would add to the convenience factor that the feature provides. However, this new feature could be considered an inconvenience by many viewers as there are pop-ups and ads that are too frequent and this would cause a drop in the viewers.
