Brand image is crucial in the success and growth of companies. In today’s world, where multinational companies are taking over, it will be very difficult for local brands to still have their domestic customers, as seen in the article ‘Indian brands need to evolve to compete with the world’s best‘. Companies in the Indian market are varied in their popularity within the country due to the variation in the common brand image in the market.

I personally feel that the brand image that the Indian companies have are based on the value proposition that it gives off. For instance, the famous dairy brand in India called ‘Amul’ has a strong customer loyalty as they have been present in the Indian market for 50 years. Likewise, there are many companies in the Indian market that have a large market share but don’t really have a popular brand image. These companies can enhance their brand image by enhancing their customer services, as this would result in a good word of mouth.

However, as much as they could enhance their brand image, they would have to compete with numerous international brands that may be much more established than the domestic brands. This would actually give them a benchmark to maintain if they chose to compete on a global scale. It also gives them a sense of what the competition would look like in the global market.
