TARGET 1: School – Community Partnerships

The school has worked over the years to cultivate many partnerships that are invaluable in supporting a quality and varied program for the students at the school. Some of our great partners and the programs we run are listed below:

Social Envelope:

1.      Health and Social Services – Kids in the Kitchen, Yellowknife Dietitian – Food Safe, Drop the Pop

2.      LKDFN – Aildlife, HR – special courses: GPS, Wilderness First Aid, First Aid

3.      Interagency – Community Wellness Plan

4.      RCMP – Anti-bullying, DARE, special events help, bicycle safety, safe skidooing

5.      COOP – Food Donations for special events, freight donations,

6.      Air Tindi – donations for student travel, free freight for breakfast program

7.      ITI – Take a Kid Trapping

8.      TNC – Interdisciplinary Curriculum Development – traditional skills, culture-based education

9.      ENR – Workshops on travel safety, trapping safety and techniques, caribou monitoring,

10.  Sport North – skis, ski coaching training, sports travel and equipment

11.  MACA – Sports equipment and travel support

12.  ATG – funding and organizational support for cultural activities

1.      Aurora College – special courses for HS students – GPS, mapping, First Aid; CEP participant

2.      University of Calgary – Caribou Anatomy Project, Artillery Lake, 2011

3.      University of Alberta – Brenda Parlee, caribou and environmental monitoring, Fall 2012

4.      DEBEERS – Career Fair, May 2013; supporter of community events and feasts

5.      BHP – EKATI Trip – Job Shadowing Experiences, May 2013
