{"id":136,"date":"2009-03-13T09:50:38","date_gmt":"2009-03-13T17:50:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/projectportfolio\/?page_id=136"},"modified":"2009-03-13T09:53:04","modified_gmt":"2009-03-13T17:53:04","slug":"goals","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/projectportfolio\/goals\/","title":{"rendered":"Goals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Over the three years, this project developed a proof of concept for e-portfolio implementation at UBC and simultaneously cultivated and nurtured a networked community that was instrumental in the growth and sustainability of the innovative practice, or folio thinking, associated with integrating e-portfolios into teaching and learning.  The main focus of staff and instructor efforts in the project was on the pedagogy associated with incorporating e-portfolios into teaching and learning, rather than on a particular technology or tool. The core project objectives over the three years were:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Year 1 \u2013 2003\/04 &#8211; Community Building and Pilot Projects<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Project Goals:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; To develop the process workflow and online environment for creating e-portfolios.<br \/>\n&#8211; To support the educational goals of five e-portfolio pilot projects undertaken in Agricultural Sciences, Education, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Science, and TAG.<br \/>\n&#8211; To create a UBC e-Portfolio Community of Practice that provides an avenue for needs analysis, scholarly dialogue, information exchange, and peer support related to e-portfolio design and use.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Year 2 \u2013 2004\/05 &#8211; Deepening Community and Expanding Use<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Project Goals:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; To provide support for the five ongoing pilots, expanding each in alignment with their stated goals.<br \/>\n&#8211; To expand the scope of e-portfolio use by initiating four new pilots focused on unique applications of the e-portfolio:  selection of non-traditional learners, e-learning professional staff competency, clinical practice (Interprofessional Rural Program), and a graduate level Masters program (Education).<br \/>\n&#8211; To develop and more deeply engage the e-Port CoP through workshops, seminars, and best practice exchange opportunities.<br \/>\n&#8211; To increase the research component by partnering with the Faculty of Education.<br \/>\n&#8211; To complete an evaluation of e-portfolio software choices, and select a campus-wide solution.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Year 3 \u2013 2005\/06 &#8211; Moving From Project to Program<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Project Goals:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Deepen student involvement through peer mentoring, student-led workshops, and a student-organized event.<br \/>\n&#8211; Support the ongoing and new pilots, expanding each in alignment with their stated goals.<br \/>\n&#8211; Develop and more deeply engage the e-Port CoP through workshops, seminars, and best practice exchange opportunities, and align it with other course technology communities on campus (WebCT).<br \/>\n&#8211; Link ongoing research with the campus efforts of the Institute for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (ISoTL).<br \/>\n&#8211; Identify the issues of e-portfolio software interoperability with other campus enterprise systems (SIS, WebCT, Faculty CV), and, if the maturity of the market allows, select a campus-wide e-portfolio solution.<br \/>\n&#8211; Work with faculty-based and centrally positioned units to construct a long-term technology support model.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Over the three years, this project developed a proof of concept for e-portfolio implementation at UBC and simultaneously cultivated and nurtured a networked community that was instrumental in the growth and sustainability of the innovative practice, or folio thinking, associated with integrating e-portfolios into teaching and learning.
