Last class we discussed about entrepreneurship and we had Tom Dobrzanski, the owner of Vertical Studios, as one of our guests. Our discussion reminded me of a new local studio that opened not long ago in Richmond. Located in the heart of Richmond on No.3 Road, just right by the skytrain station, is A*S*S. Your first instinct might be wondering what these three letters stand for since it does spell out a word that doesn’t seem to be appropriate to the whole idea. If you actually look into it the name of this studio it’s actually quite unique. A*S*S stands for “Artistic Space” Studios, referring to endless possibilities. Artistic Space Studios is a business I consider to be entrepreneurial. Yuen Mak, the owner of Artistic Space Studios, is an entrepreneur like Tom, but he took his studio to a whole new level.
Artistic Space studios exibits wealth creation, risk, and innovation. Just like Vertical Space Studios, A*S*S provides all the services of any other regular studio, such as recording and production services. What makes it different is that they also provide a number of other services as well that normal studios don’t have. Artistic Space Studios also rents out studio space and includes packages for dance, party and functions, photography, music lessons, workshops, and mini concerts. In the summer, it will also provide babysitting programs. For these reasons, it exhibits innovation. The numerous services it provides brings A*S*S to an advantage compared to other regular studios and decreases its risks in the market. The multiple service paths is what leads them to wealth creation. Artistic Space Studios has a number of paths for profit, although testing out some new ideas may have a high risk like babysitting programs, but if that one idea doesn’t work they still have many back up paths to take.
Artistic Space studios isn’t just any normal recording studio. They provide a diverse range of services that normal studios do not provide making them unique in their very own way. This brings them to an advantage, and in the near future it will lead to success.
