Queerness in all forms of media has evolved exceptionally quickly since the advent of the internet. Even without social media, forum sites like 4chan and /reddit quickly became hubs of activity for those who felt marginalized by their society — which, at some point, is every person on the planet. Lacking any study, meta or otherwise, to substantiate these claims, I can only offer my perceptions and conclusions.
I’ve catalogued a few examples of forms of media in which queer persons can find representation, or create representations where before there were none. This is not a flawless aggregate of what is available to us. This is simply a collection of items I, personally, have come across as a Citizen of the Internet. But then, without people like me, these items wouldn’t exist in the first place, would they?
